Experience

I have experience tutoring mathematics that include algebra and calculus. In high school I was part of a student group by the name of Link Crew, which its purpose was to facilitate the path of incoming freshmen to academic success through tutoring and mentoring. I have also tutored for Upward Bound, another program that its sole purpose was to ensure the admission of high school students in under served communities to four year universities. During my stay there, there was an 85% success rate for such feat. I will also be taking the position of mathematics tutor/ associate professor at El Camino College in the fall. What I love about tutoring is seeing how much success it can bring to a student's life. Sometimes, the only thing missing in between an A' and a B' is one or two questions on an exam. Usually those questions might have been "curve ball" questions, which are meant to break students down. However, as a tutor these are the questions you work with your students the most, as those questions offer a lesson in critical thinking and problem solving, the two most important factors in successful test taking. Tutoring is in my humble opinion a very useful and essential practice for any student wanting to excel in all their courses. I have a knack for finding student's weaknesses and offering the proper assistance to improve those deficiencies. As an undergraduate student, I also felt the pressure in learning something new. However the key to success in providing the best service possible to my students is the ability to listen to them. Most of the time the challenge in solving a problem is an inadequate approach to it. Classes that I have taken include: Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus I-III, Applied Math, Electricity & Magnetism, Mechanics of Heat, Chemistry, Statics, Fluid Dynamics, Flight Mechanics, Orbital Mechanics, and many more.
